77 years and still doing it's job

After 63 years of millions of tons of freight and the constant temperature changes, (as the ice crystals form on the rail) I suppose a little wear would be expected on these rails.

Illinois Railway's CF7 No. 5 sits on a trestle just east of Ladd, Illinois, as it slowly makes it's way to La Salle.

While waiting for Conductor Spika to set a few switches, Engineer Vahey checks out the inner bowels of CF7 No. 5 as it prepares to make the short trip back to La Salle with a cut of new hoppers.

Engineer Kevin Vahey works the throttle on Illinois Railnet 5 as it works it's way up a hill east of Zearing with a cut of cars that have just been interchanged with the BNSF.

IR 5 leads the charge, headed south towards La Salle, its final destination for the evening.

After working at Zearing, the Illinois Railway's 104 Job heads back to La Salle, with its unique CF7/GP20 combo.
